Population and Development: Nepal Country Report ICPD+15 (Completed 2009)

The PHD Group was entrusted by Ministry of Health and Population, Government of Nepal, to review and prepare a country report on population and development policies and programmes since the International Conference on Population and Development in 1994 in Cairo. The purpose of this report is to document the changes that have occurred in Nepal since ICPD 1994, and to show the status of Nepal’s efforts in the implementation of the Programme of Action. In several cases, these efforts had started even before ICPD, but for the most part, the activities described in this report were shaped by, if not in consequence of, the revised vision of population given shape by ICPD. Nepal is continually making its efforts to translate ICPD agenda into action for the betterment of human life despite daunting challenges such as political upheavals, economic depression, poverty, resource crunch and shortage of skilled human resources.
